Affiliate associates program has been a major earner for me for the last few years, and after reading on many forums that a lot of affiliates are struggling to make money with Amazon, I decided to put together a few tips which can help you improve your Amazon affiliate earnings. All of these tips have worked for me so there’s no reason why they shouldn’t work for you too, provided you put in some effort on your part and promote relevant products on your blog.
1. Link to Amazon Multiple Times
Ideally, any review or general post intended for the purpose of promoting one or more products from Amazon should be more than 500 words and broken down into a number of paragraphs. This is essential since by doing so you’ll be able to link to that product multiple times in the post, which will lead to a higher click-through rate and thereby more sales and earnings.
Not only should you add contextual links in your post, but also make the images clickable as most people tend to click on the images to enlarge them. This will ensure that any item they buy from Amazon during a 24 hour period will lead to a commission for you.
2. Write Bestseller Posts
While you can continue to write specific product reviews, it is a good idea to write bestseller posts once in a while. This will serve a dual purpose – first, it will help your readers get to know the best products available in the market, and secondly your conversions will skyrocket since a lot of the items from your list will be bought by your readers.
Since Amazon has a wide range of products, even if your readers don’t buy any of the recommended items from your list, they might end up buying something totally different, yet the sale will be credited to you and you will get a commission for each item they buy.
3. Highlight Discounts
Sometimes a product may be available at a heavily discounted price due to a variety of reasons. This is the best time to cash in and promote the discounted product on your blog. But you have to make sure the products you choose to promote have a good rating, and are related to your niche.
In other words, you should refrain from promoting any third-rate item even though it may be available at a 90% discount. Doing this will not only add to your credibility but your conversions would be higher too, since you’ll only be promoting quality products.
4. Promote Pre-Orders
These days before most products are officially launched, they are available for pre-order about a month or two in advance on Amazon. To take advantage of this, you should write a post to let your readers know if the pre-booking of an anticipated product has started.
The best part about promoting pre-orders is that they are much easier to rank for as compared to traditional product reviews which have a huge amount of competition.
5. Promote Offers for Special Days
Amazon does its best to spurt its sales by offering customers heavy discounts and attractive deals on special days. As an affiliate, you too have a great chance of making quick commissions by letting your readers know about special discounts on Amazon and encouraging them to grab the latest deals. Here is a list of a few important days when Amazon gives special offers:
- Mother’s Day
- Father’s Day
- Valentine’s Day
- New Year
- Labor Day
- Black Friday
- Cyber Monday
The key to cashing in on these days is by being among the first ones to dish out posts that promote special offers on such days and trying to rank them on the first page of search engines.
